St Stephen Activities

St Stephen's parishioners eagerly dedicate their time and talent in a variety of ways. Experience our diverse devotion to the daily life of our parish.

  • Altar Society       The St. Stephen Altar Society was established in June 1997, by the Right Reverend Archimandrite Wesley Izer, S.D.B., then Rector of the Pro-Cathedral. It had its first official meeting with the newly appointed Rector, Fr. Stephen G Washko on October 4, 1997. There were 20 charter members. Patron Saints are the Ointment-Bearing Women and Sts. Mary and Martha, signifying the members mission in keeping spotless the house of the Lord, i.e. "Heaven on Earth". Duties include vacuuming the carpet area, dusting the furnishings, cleaning the bathroom areas, etc. on a weekly basis; with 2 special workdays prior to Christmas and Easter.

  • Fish Fry Dinners    The Friends of St. Stephen ( men and women of our parish) accepts the challenge of financially assisting our parish  by sponsoring Fish & Pierogi Dinners on the first Friday of every month.  As a bonus, we also serve dinners every Friday during Lent (except Good Friday). We offer choices of fish, shrimp and ethnic foods.  Bring a friend and come and join us.   For a complete list of the current menu >  

  • Holiday Food Sales    Talk about delicious! We make poppy seed, nut and apricot rolls as well pierogi and homemade sausage to be sold during the week before Easter and Christmas. In addition, we offer Paska at Easter, just like you remember.

  • Outreach   On the serious side, our parish is also involved in gathering food and clothing for the needy and homeless.  A core group of parishioners also visit the infirmed in our parish who are unable to join us for liturgy.

  • New Year's Eve Family Night   Parishioners join in a pot luck dinner on New Year's eve after the Vesper Liturgy for a night of games and laughter.

  • Byzanteen Youth Retreats  

  • St. Stephen FundRaiser    St Stephen is currently holding a Mega-Buck Calendar fund raiser to help raise money for our building fund.  The winning number is determined by the nightly Arizona Pick 3 ™ Lottery drawing.  There are still numbers available if interested. You can obtain one by calling 602-943-5379.  The Arizona State Lottery is not associated with nor are they a sponsor of this Friends of St Stephen Raffle.
