St. Stephen's Altar Servers are opened to any male aged 5 and up. The younger boys are encouraged to be accompanied by their fathers as they learn the proper respect for assisting at the altar of God.

The young men are instructed by the example of St. Stephen's two deacon candidates in the various functions as they assist the priest and deacon in the Eucharistic celebration.

The servers assist at Sunday and Holyday Liturgies as well as Vespers and Presanctified Liturgies during the Great Fast.

They also have the opportunity to assist occasionally at a Hierarchical Liturgy, given that our Bishop, Most Reverend William Skurla makes his home here in Phoenix.

The servers enjoy non-liturgical functions as they attend a baseball game together each spring. They are also invited and encouraged to participate in the Eparchial Alive in Christ Retreat which is an annual "ascetical boot camp" for the young men of the Eparchy.
