Our pierogi pinching parties are used to help make those delicious little
'dumplings' which St. Stephen Church sells throughout the year. During the
year we will make more than 2,500 dozens.....and we sell them all!
We use these 2 days of work as a means of promoting community spirit as well
as making the pierogi.
The next 2 day party will probably be held in January 25 & 26 of 2008.
On Friday, we usually start around 9 am to start mixing the sautéed onions and
the potatoes. The people that start making the balls of potato usually
start around noon and continue until they get tired or we're done!!!
Sometimes people come later when they get off work and help.
Saturday starts earlier. We have to start making the dough around
6am so it has time to set for the people who start pinching at 8am. There are
dough makers, circle cutters, and pinchers and we use them all! Even the
kids are able to help. It's a long day for some but we have a lot of fun
doing this.
So if you are willing to help out - even 2 hours is a big help - we would
love to have you.
